Don’t miss this!
I went out of town for a week, and I’m still trying to get back into the swing of things. My daughter and I went to Chicago to visit family, and had a great time. My little pumpkin has never really been much a dare devil. In fact, until last week, she had never even taken a proper ride on a Merry-Go-Round. I’ve been trying to get her on one since she was just under 1 year old, and each attempt resulted in stubborn refusal and crying. We always ended up on the sleigh bench. The latest attempt was just a couple of months ago.
All that changed last week when we went to Kiddie Land. If any of you a familiar, can you believe they’re going to close it at the end of the summer? I’m crushed, as is my whole family. It’s a little amusement park in Melrose, IL and it’s such a great place for the little ones. Not to mention that it has been a tradition in my family since my Dad and Aunt were kids. I can still remember riding all of those rides as a kid.
We wanted to take my daughter to continue the tradition. She loved it and quickly became a little adrenaline junky. Her descent into maddness began with the “roto whip”. This little ride is faster than all the other kiddie rides. I purposely kept her off of it all day thinking it was too fast for her. I was amazed by how well she did on all of the rides, and when the afternoon rolled around, she caught a glimple of this ride and asked to go on. I went with her, as this is one of the rides that is big enough for parents to ride along. She LOVED It and quickly asked to go again. On the second ride, she kicked me out of her car, and then preceeded to ride 4 more times on her own.
From there we progressed to the “Tilt-a-Whirl” which Mommy only wanted to ride once, and from there on to “The Little Dipper” roller coaster which quickly brought about a “I want to go AGAIN!” from my little Dare Devil. We had a blast.
